Uzima Chicken is a social enterprise focused on making smallholder farmers healthier and wealthier. Uzima Chicken distributes an improved breed of chicken that is 4x more productive than local breeds in terms of egg and meat production while requiring the same level of management and care as the local chicken.
Job Summary
The logistics and distribution team strives to best serve Uzima Chicken Agents, customers, stakeholders, and smallholder farmers across Kenya. The team helps the company senior managers and sales team by organizing smooth and efficient logistics system to deliver products and satisfy the needs of our agents and other stakeholders. The logistics assistant is responsible for ensuring that the supply chain is efficient and effective throughout the organization by providing the needed support in the logistical operations. The logistics assistant organizes, store and monitor the distribution of company products to ensure they are delivered to their appropriate destinations in the right time. Uzima is at a key inflection point of growth and seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented Logistics professional with a passion for improving the lives of smallholder farmers and drive growth across the growing business.Duties and responsibilities.
To provide administrative and executive support to the Logistics Officer with the ability to perform tasks independently or with little supervision, in line with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). To assist in the coordination and manage the distribution and reallocation of all logistical resources. Stock control: ensuring the accurate recording and update of the stock movement at the warehouse. To participate in the export and import transportation done by the company. To create route plans and assist in organizing and executing transportation of cargo To provide logistical assistance to all personnel regarding the required assets to fulfil their tasks. To monitor all the logistical costs and ensure the company achieves the lowest transportation costs in its operations. Manage the fleet of vehicles under the department provided that they are assigned to the correct use and cost sensitive. Respond to the drivers and advice accordingly during distribution. Monitor and keep a good maintenance record for the company’s fleet. Prepare timely delivery reports after completion of every delivery and compiling of monthly reports, fuel reports, mileage and fulfilment reports. Source and procure items in a timeous and cost-effective way. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to get quotes, negotiate pricing and maintain good relationships with external stakeholders. Maintain a preferred supplier list with routine validation. To undertake any other related tasks as requested by the operations manager. Job requirements

Strong planning and coordination skills Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Familiarity with business software applications such as MS Office and Google Suite Proactive and able to work independently while also being part of a team Bachelor’s degree in supply chain and management or a related field is preferred Ability to work under pressure, adapt well to change, and meet tight deadlines.Important Safety Tips
