ABOUT THE ROLE
The YES 2.0! Project Coordinator serves as the team leader responsible for overseeing the implementation of grant activities as part of the 2-year Youth Empowered Solutions (YES 2.0) Project. This project aims to strengthen youth leadership as a means to drive positive social and environmental change by three key focus areas of Service Learning, Youth Businesses and Health (including WASH), while incorporating and mainstreaming environmental conservation and protection with 6Rs throughout all program activities.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
R.1 Project Coordination
T.1 Develop work-plans with the programs team in line with the grant goals, objectives, and budget; and mentor staff to help them achieve timely implementation of work plans.
T.2 Provide guidance, mentorship, and support supervision to YES project staff and the relevant communities/beneficiaries, ensuring successful implementation of grant activities, targets, and achievements.
T.3 Ensure responsible, transparent, and compliant use of funds within the approved budget and in compliance with RWMT's policies.
T.4 Ensure continuous monitoring and evaluation of grant activities with all relevant project and administrative staff.
T.5 Ensure all YES project staff and volunteers keep and maintain up-to-date and accurate field records of activities and beneficiaries. Provide quality and timely delivery of all grant reports, in their agreed format, as required by donors, the Executive Director, and Board.
T.6 Advise the Management Team of any key development forums in the grant area and any other networks that may serve to the advantage of the grant and its ability to achieve its overall objectives. Put forward new ideas and/or recommendations for improved sustainability.
T.7 Mainstream the YES project interventions into the 3 Pillars as spelled out in the current RWMT strategic plan.
T.8 Oversee Service-Learning activities by coordinating youth-driven initiatives that apply the 6Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Refuse, Recycle, Rethink, Repair) to enhance community environmental sustainability.
T.9 Manage and support the Business Solution Centre to empower youth with practical entrepreneurial and health-focused skills, integrating health education to address community-specific health needs and strengthen local ecosystems through project-based learning and innovation.
R.2 WASH Integration
T.1 Ensure integration of WASH interventions into the YES 2.0 project areas of focus: Service Learning, Business and Health.
T.2 Plan and/or facilitate institutional and community WASH resource and capacity assessments, including baseline and feasibility studies.
T.3 Enhance WASH activities in schools and health facilities within the Koteyo Water Project catchment area; ensuring compliance with health standards and effective implementation of hygiene practices.
T.4 Develop clear and realistic activity planning aligned to WASH strategies, and coordinate activities to track progress of projects and achievement of activities within available budget.
T.5 Participate in Project-level WASH activity planning and reviews to regularly review project impact on beneficiaries.
T.6 Engage with sector offices and county governments on the course of rolling out planned WASH activities.
T.7 Participate and provide technical support to conduct training for water committees, caretakers, kiosk and in-take operators, Health&Sanitation promotion where appropriate,
T.8 Provide support supervision to the Koteyo Water Project Plant team to track relevant data and meet donor reporting requirements.
T.9 Ensure ongoing dialogue and information dissemination on various stakeholder roles and responsibilities within the Koteyo Water Project for improved service delivery, increased uptake of treated water, and community safeguarding of plant and equipment.
T.10 Collaborate with the Finance team, Programs Manager and Water Committee to review monthly P&L of the Koteyo Water Project
R.3 Capacity Building
T.1 Assess skills and knowledge of community volunteers linked to the YES and WASH projects: Youth Health Ambassadors, Rotaract, Community Water Committee, Service-Learning instructors
T.2 Train and mentor staff and community members on health-related topics including GBV, SRH, and WASH, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to implement and maintain projects effectively.
T.3 Support the development and implementation of training materials, manuals, and guidelines related to project activities.
T.4 Facilitate the identification and development of potential local partners and their capacity building with particular emphasis in WASH-related areas.
R.4 Relationship Management
T.1 Build effective working relationships with government institutions, NGOs, and private sector organizations operating in the County as well as local communities, schools, and religious organizations in line with RWMT’s strategic plan.
T.2 Represent the project in relevant forums at the local and county levels.
T.3 Maintain good public relations, networking and collaboration with other like-minded organizations.
T.4 Share and instill the values of RWMT to the programs staff and beneficiaries.
T.5 Keep and maintain the name of RWMT in high esteem and respect to the community.
R.5 Governance and Management
T.1 Present monthly grant reports to the Programs Manager.
T.2 Ensure that regular management, departmental and staff meetings are held and ensure the Manager and the Executive Director are adequately briefed on significant issues emerging from the meetings.
T.3 Ensure timely and adequate management information at all times; and participate in quarterly budget reviews and planning meetings.
T.4 Interpret and implement government policies that affect the activities of the grant.
R.6 Internal Administration
T.1 Maintain and keep up to date and accurate field records and reports of activities and beneficiaries according to the organization’s M&E and reporting requirements.
T.2 Ensure the integrity of information collected and presented is not compromised in any way whatsoever.
T.3 Reviewing grants quarterly and annual work plans according to the organizations needs and requirements.
T.4 Reviewing grants operational budgets in conjunction with the Programs Manager, Finance Officer and Finance Manager.
T.5 Participating in grant concept paper and proposal development for donor funding.
T.6 Actively maintain the follow up and feedback referral system to ensure beneficiaries are provided with maximum support from the organization’s various expertise.
T.7 Provide timely advice to the Management Team on issues likely to affect/impact grant implementation.
T.8 Ensure all inventory items issued to the department are maintained in good condition and are stored neatly and in a secured room.
R.7 Monitoring and Evaluation Function (YES 2.0)
T.1 Work with the MEAL coordinator to ensure monitoring and evaluation of both YES 2.0 and WASH projects are well executed.
R.8 Representation and Networking
T.1 Represent RWMT in relevant WASH sector forums, meetings, and events at the county and national levels.
T.2 Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and community-based organizations working in similar sectors.
T.3 Collaborate with other RWMT staff to identify and pursue potential funding opportunities for key projects.
T.4 Participate in the development of concept notes and proposals for new projects, ensuring they are aligned with RWMT's strategic plan and donor requirements.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
a) Level of education:
At least a degree in any relevant field with focus on public health, Community Health or Social Sciences. Certification in any Economic Empowerment disciplines and health care services is an added advantage.
b) Specialized Training/Professional Qualifications
Health promotion, SRH, disease prevention and treatment, GBV, capacity building skills, Project Management and M&E.
c) Other competencies:
• Strong knowledge of WASH-related issues, including water supply, sanitation, hygiene promotion, and community development.
• Experience in project management, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite, GIS, and database management systems.
• Fluency in English, with additional languages being an advantage, particularly for working in multicultural environments.
• Willingness to work in challenging environments and travel to remote locations as needed.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the WASH sector.
• Certifications or training in specific WASH-related areas, such as water quality testing, sanitation system design, or hygiene promotion, can be beneficial.
d) Job experience:
At least 5-10 years of experience in WASH-related projects, programs, or initiatives.

Other information
The role is based in our main office in a rural area in the Western part of Kenya. We are about 15 km from the nearest town . Due to the nature of work working hours might extend on some days. We are looking for candidates who are excited about living and working in a rural setup to a minimum of 3-5 years. There is a six month probation period and we will agree on performance and learning objectives.
