Job Description: A Workshop Supervisor is to manage and oversee the daily operations of a workshop to ensure that it functions efficiently, safely, and effectively. This includes leading and coordinating the workshop team, ensuring high standards of workmanship and quality control, maintaining a safe working environment, managing resources and equipment, and fostering continuous improvement and skill development among staff. The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for delivering high-quality services on time and within budget while adhering to all relevant regulations and standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision & Management:

o Oversee daily operations of the workshop; ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to high standards.

o Assign tasks to team members and monitor progress to ensure efficiency and quality.

o Provide technical guidance and support to workshop staff.

  • Quality Control:

o Conduct inspections to ensure all work meets company standards and client requirements.

o Implement quality assurance processes and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

  • Health & Safety:

o Enforce health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.

o Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for staff.

  • Resource Management:

o Manage inventory and order supplies and materials as needed.

o Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of workshop tools and equipment.

  • Team Development:

o Train and mentor workshop staff, providing opportunities for skill development and growth.

o Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.

  • Administrative Tasks:

o Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.

o Prepare reports and documentation as required.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a workshop or similar environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge relevant to the workshop's operations (e.g., mechanics, machining, fabrication).
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with workshop tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
