JOB SUMMARY

BackgroundAn infrastructure development consortium is working to develop a water and sanitation project in the coastal region of Kenya on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis. The Project aims to produce, transmit and distribute potable water and has auxiliary components of waste water collection and treatment and captive solar power. The project is in the Project Development stage, and the Consortium is now seeking a Water and Sanitation Engineer to support the Project Development team. Job TypeContract, Full Time. 6-18 months.Qualifications- BSc/MSc in Civil Engineering, Water Supply Engineering or related fields - Advantage: Registration with relevant engineering bodies, and with ERB as a Registered Engineer, and Membership in Professional SocietiesExperience: 7-10 years of relevant experience Location: Nairobi, with frequent travel to the Kenyan Coast Reporting: To Chief Technical Officer

RESPONSIBILITIES

Relevant Skills- All round water and sanitation engineer, with advantage attributed to institutional, operation and management aspects - Proficient in computers; knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, and MS Project- Expertise in relevant engineering software and applications (e.g., AutoCAD and Water-CAD, or similar hydraulic design software)- Engineering design, drawing preparation and checking skills- Practical experience in design and construction supervision of water and sanitation infrastructure - Experience in GIS and working with GIS teams - People skills including interpersonal, motivating, negotiation, communication and presentation skills- Knowledge of project and contract management and administration- Experience working with communities, county and national governments is an advantage - Experience working with ESIA teams is an advantage - Fluency in English and KiswahiliKey Responsibilities - Preparing of TORs and RFPs for technical advisors and consultants, and including evaluation of bids - Supervising consultants and advisors undertaking studies, investigations, contract documents, technical design reports and cost estimates of water supply and sanitation systems, including: intakes, transmission and distribution systems, pumping systems, water treatment plants, reservoirs, sewerage reticulation, wastewater treatment plants, etc- Regularly attending projects meetings with stakeholders and preparation of project reports: meetings, daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly- Reviewing civil drawings, designs and plans developed by consultants and contractors- Preparing and assisting in management of project budgets and schedules- Performing construction site oversight, contract administration and management of project issues- Carry out Quality Assurance tasksApplicationThe application, including CV and copies of qualification and testimonial documents should be sent by email to:• Andrew Muigai (amuigai@utilitypartners.co.ke), and • Kim Kimanzi (kkimanzi@sabakiwater.co.ke)no later than 2359 (EAT) on 28th February 2025.
