Job Summary

The Travel Consultant will be responsible for the planning, development, administration and implementation of tourism products. The Travel Consultant will devise and arrange holidays and travel options, working with hotels, airlines and other transport companies or ground travel, in order to execute the arrangements. The Travel Consultant will provide customers with advice about where to travel as well as the best means of reaching such destinations or may suggest an escorted tour or can help to devise a complex tailor-made itinerary, which will allow the separate elements of the clients trip to fit together.

  • Experience Level : Mid level
  • Experience Length : 2 years

Job Description/Requirements

Location: Nairobi.


Travel Consultant responsibilities:


  • Responding to customer enquiries about tours (on the phone and in writing). 
  • Computing costs for customized tours. 
  • Booking external service providers – drivers, hotels and guides. 
  • Being the primary point of contact with customers when they are in Kenya, which means being on call to deal with issues outside nomal office hours. 
  • Assist with creating new trips and tour itineraries. 
  • Develop custom tours in response to customer enquiries. 
  • Help to create new tours to increase our portfolio of tours. 
  • Staff will be expected to be flexible and help out with anything else that needs doing to ensure the success of the business. 


Competencies (Required): 


    • Excellent written and spoken English. 

    • Attention to detail is critical. 

    • Good with figures. 

    • Proficient in Word and Excel. 

    • Excellent customer service skills. 

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

    • A demonstrable interest in travel and outdoors. 

    • Previous management and tourism experience with knowledge of relevant destinations, attractions and travel is mandatory. 

    • A university degree or college diploma in travel and hospitality is mandatory. 

    • Research skills. 

    • Project management skills (project management certification is an added advantage).

    • Proficiency in multiple foreign languages is an asset.

    • Minimum 2 years experience in the tours & travel industry.
