Job Summary
The Sub County Coordinator will support the Give Back Program in Homabay and Western Kenya regions by ensuring that schools, health facilities and households under the program are visited regularly. Conduct repairs and replacements of purifiers and filters in a timely manner. Conduct comprehensive training on proper usage of purifiers/filters and ensure education on health hygiene is provided in homes, schools and relevant institutions in the community. Liaise and maintain a good relationship with all relevant stakeholders.

Organizational summary
- Initiative Consultants Limited provides Vestergaard Frandsen East Africa Ltd with human resources personnel to work for the LifeStraw® Give Back Program in Homabay and Western Kenya. The Give Back program by LifeStraw®, a brand of Vestergaard Frandsen E.A. Limited is a social initiative that focuses on providing access to safe drinking water in areas where clean water is scarce. The program has been instrumental in helping to improve health and reduce waterborne diseases by providing portable water purifiers to Schools, Health Facilities and Households in Western Kenya and Homabay regions.
Key Responsibilities are:
1. Actively work towards the achievement of the LifeStraw® program goals
2. Abide by and work in accordance with both ICL and Vestergaard Frandsen East Africa Ltd policies and Terms of Reference
3. Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the Area Supervisor
4. Work actively in the communities to which you are assigned, liaising with community members and stakeholders
5 Display dedication to improving the livelihoods of your community through the provision of safe drinking water and health and hygiene education
6 Display leadership in participating in important community events, engaging with schools and other relevant community organizations, and mobilizing household members to use LifeStraw® water filters.
Position Requirements and Experience
- Relevant Degree/Diploma certificates (Community health/Social Sciences certification preferred)
- KCSE Certificate
- Relevant experience in field work such as Community Health Worker, Community development & Community leadership
- Knowledge of LifeStraw® products
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- MUST own a laptop and a smart phone
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to make timely and accurate reports
- Good knowledge of the Sub Counties in Western Kenya and Homa Bay
- Excellent computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Excel and word) and use of internet.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to complete basic arithmetic and accounting of stocks
- Attention to detail
- Social mobilization capability and presentation skills
- Excellent inter-personal skills and cultural sensitivity.
