Essential Function

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, and issuance of raw materials, components, and finished stainless steel products in the manufacturing facility. You will ensure that inventory levels support production schedules, maintain accurate stock records, and uphold safety and organizational standards in the stores department. The Stores Officer will collaborate with production, procurement, and quality teams to facilitate efficient operations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive, inspect, store incoming raw materials and issue materials to production teams based on work orders and maintain accurate records of stock movement.
  • Update inventory records using manual logs or computerized systems and ensure proper labelling and documentation of all stored items, including grade and batch numbers.
  • Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies and prepare weekly and monthly inventory reports for management.
  • Liaise with the procurement team to track incoming shipments and expedite urgent material requirements.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors to align material issuance with manufacturing schedules.
  • Coordinate with the quality control team to verify incoming materials meet specifications before storage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free stores environment in compliance with OSHA and ensure proper storage conditions to prevent corrosion or damage to materials
  • Provide monthly and weekly reports on stock levels, material usage, and slow-moving inventory to the immediate supervisor.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve storage efficiency, or streamline processes.
  • Assist in audits of stores operations and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast inventory needs


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-3 Years in inventory management preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting (experience with metals or stainless steel is a plus).
  • Proven experience in inventory management or storekeeping.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail for accurate stock tracking and documentation.
  • Time management to meet production demands and deadlines and problem-solving skills to address inventory discrepancies or supply issues.
  • Teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of stainless steel grades, properties and handling requirements.
  • Knowledge of supply chain and procurement processes.
