Steam System Engineer

Reports to: Maintenance Manager

Job Overview:

The Steam System Engineer will be responsible for planning of all maintenance activities, Condition Based Maintenance and preventive maintenance. They will oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of steam systems which include high pressure boilers, auxiliary boiler, steam turbine, air-cooled condenser, water treatment plant and all accessories associated with generation of steam. The engineer will manage boiler operations, ensure safety protocols, and perform routine inspections. The tasks include troubleshooting, system optimization, and regulatory compliance.

Main Functions

● Operation and Maintenance of High-pressure boilers including all the racks, and lances, sealing fans, isolation valves, and pneumatic actuated valves to identify and address potential issues and wet water washing according to safety standards and manufacturer's specifications.

● Operation and maintenance of the oil-fired boiler.

● Check and monitor the equipment for corrosion and fouling of the system.

● Coordinate preventive maintenance programs of the systems in liaison with the respective departments and perform root cause analysis for the system.

● Perform statutory inspections with the government inspector and report any finding

● Operation and maintenance of the turbine as per the manufacturer’s with excellent troubleshooting skills.

● Carry out annual inspections for critical equipment as per manufacturer manual

● Steam and boiler tube analysis with logical interpretation of the analysis of both the fire and water sides.

● Train and supervise other staff members involved in steam boiler operations and steam turbine.

● Ability to interpret drawings and provide information required by the management.

● Generation and analysis of critical spares needed for the system.

Other tasks

● Perform the major maintenance for the system as assigned by the maintenance manager

● Engine repair and maintenance for the 12k maintenance and 18 k major service works and any scope related to that.

● Periodic maintenance of the engines with the team.

● Attend to any breakdown both planned and unplanned maintenance Desired Competencies

● Diploma in relevant field preferably Diploma in electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronic Engineering

● Having a certificate in Training on Boilers, Steam Systems and Other Fuel Fired Equipment is an added advantage.

● Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of boilers and Steam systems

● Knowledge of heating systems, boiler and other related power equipment, boiler chemistry and water testing procedures, and boiler codes and safety standards.

● Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job.
