Job Summary
The Senior Teacher will be responsible for the academic welfare of the Junior School Section of Jonathan Gloag Academy (JGA).
Key Managerial Duties and Responsibilities Include:
· Advise teachers on the interpretation of the curriculum through:
· Checking on schemes of work every term
· Checking of lesson plans and notes every week
· Checking of records of work every week
· Ensuring effective teaching in your section through:
· Monitoring attendance and punctuality of teachers
· In consultation with the Head Teacher and Academic Dean, distribute teaching duties
· Advise on ways of improving delivery of lessons
· Maintain pupils’ reports and assessment records
· Interview prospective pupils in your section, in consultation with the Head Teacher.
· Appoint and supervise the bell ringer in your section
· Be a member of the discipline committee
· Be a member of the timetable committee
· Make mid-term reports to the Head Teacher based on the stipulated performance indicators
· Participate in Termly and end of year staff performance appraisals
· General welfare of the staff in your section
· Any other duties as detailed by the school management
Social Liaison
· Lead by example as a teacher and to motivate those working under you to work as teams.
· Work towards the creation and sustenance of an environment conducive to learning
· Work towards the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development of the children in our care.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a Bachelor’s Degree in Education holder or equivalent from a university recognized by the government of Kenya
- A Master’s Degree in Education will be an added advantage
- Meets Chapter Six(6) of the Constitution
- Should be an excellent teacher with at least 2 years of proven experience with the curriculum based competency (CBC) in a similar role
- English Language Teaching is a mandatory requirement
- Must be registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
- Proven track record in teaching in senior roles
- Strong leadership and demonstrated skills in management with ability to build strong and highly motivated team.
- Excellent Computer Skills, Information Systems, MS Office and Databases
