Job Description/Requirements
Reporting to the operations manager, the successful Senior System Administrator should be talented, self-motivated and able to work with various IT teams. His/her duties include but are not limited to project management, database administration, network administration and database security.
Responsibilities:
- Hardware and Windows OS installations, patching and upgrades.
- Maintain operating systems, associated infrastructure software, and systems configuration.
- Create SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Allocate system resources; manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
- Implement security procedures and tools.
- Ensure the rigorous
application of information security/information assurance policies,
principles, and practices to the systems administration process;
Support of storage infrastructure, management configuration, monitoring, etc.
Qualifications and Personal Attributes:
- Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from a recognized University.
- Minimum of a KCSE grade on B or equivalent.
- 3 or more years of experience in Systems Administration.
- Strong knowledge of networking and security concepts.
- Proficiency in Windows OS installation and upgrade, patch management, system security, system monitoring and logging.
- Experience in configuring common network services such as Active Directory, DNS, TCP/IP, and DHCP.
- Experience installing and upgrading SharePoint and SQL Server.
- Experience provisioning and configuring SharePoint solutions, sites, workflows, Web parts, and master pages using the SharePoint UI and SharePoint Designer.
- Experience administrating IIS Web sites.
- Experience administering/configuring authentication protocols, IIS 7+ and certificates.
- Strong background in Windows server backup and restore; experience in NetBackup 7 is a plus.
- Experience in Linux system administration and engineering is a plus.
- Experience maintaining SQL Server and Oracle Client for Windows.
- Experience supporting .NET application development, build & deployment, and production.
- Experience installing and configuring Team Foundation Server (TFS) and Visual Studio.
- Experience in creating and managing VMware virtual machines.
- MCSA (Network+) is a must; MCSE, Security+ is a plus.
- Knowledge of best practices and lessons learned from large scale enterprise deployments.
- Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends and/or during change windows outside of normal business hours.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, be self-motivated and able to define, plan and implement long-term goals, tasks and projects.
