Living Water Service Centre

Living Water Service Center (LWSC), an affiliate of Living Water International, is a Christian-based Non-Governmental Organization that works in the areas of WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene) in rural vulnerable communities in Kenya. LWSC seeks to recruit a Senior HR Officer. This position reports to the Country Director.

 

Job Summary

A Senior Human Resource Officer is responsible for overseeing and managing various HR functions within the country program. The role is expected to bring dedicated support, leadership, orientation, and commitment to Human Resources Development with the aim of optimizing performance, sustaining the organizational culture, and ensuring alignment with LWI goals. This position ensures the implementation of LWI HR policies and procedures and national labor legislation, facilitating proper approaches to organizational change and initiatives that help employees understand organizational challenges and strategy and how they can contribute to it.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise the Country Director on all aspects of the Labor Act and best practices for adherence and compliance
  • Advise the Country Director on the country’s HR strategy and staffing plan.
  • Coordinate and lead all local recruitment processes for the country program.
  • Review and implement the LWI human resources policies and ensure compliance by the projects/programs of the office staff.
  • Manage all aspects of payroll administration from payroll preparation to payment.
  • Prepare and manage the annual HR budget by participating in the overall budgeting process to ensure HR plans are included.
  • Contribute proactively to developing an organizational culture that is in line with LWI’s vision, mission, and Christian core values.
  • Oversee the HR Information System (HRIS) to ensure all staff data is timely updated and processed.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers in conducting performance management; facilitate training of teams and staff on projects and new management challenges.
  • Identify training needs and develop training programs to enhance staff skills and capabilities.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the Country program.
  • Handle and address employee concerns and mediate conflict resolution in a timely and effective manner in close collaboration with the Country Director and line managers.

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or an HR-related field is required.
  • 5 years’ proven experience working as an HR Generalist with exposure to recruitment, staff development, compensation, performance management, and staffing, among others.
  • Experience in supervising several roles may be required.
  • NGO experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, payroll systems, HRIS, and PowerPoint presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of local labor laws.
  • A sound knowledge of conflict management techniques and processes.
  • A sound understanding of compensation and benefits.
  • Proven experience in change management, organizational structures, and implementation of HR strategies.
  • Good driving skills with a valid driver’s license.
