Location: Eldoret / Nairobi Kenya (Eldoret preferred)

Acre is partnering with Earthtree, a subsidiary of Earthbanc, to find an experienced Senior Manager in Carbon and Ecosystem Verification to support their tree-planting projects in Kenya. The successful candidate will provide essential support to the Executive team, setting goals and strategies and executing them efficiently in Carbon Project Development. This role requires autonomy, precision, and the ability to manage various responsibilities effectively.

They engage with communities, farmers, and landholders to achieve their land regeneration and productivity goals.

Who Are They Looking For?

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

Lead and backstop ecosystem restoration projects throughout their life cycle.

Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of new carbon emissions reduction projects.

Manage the pipeline of Carbon Development projects, ensuring the issuance of Carbon Credits on VERRA, Regen Registry, and Gold Standard.

Develop and write carbon project scoping and feasibility reports, management and implementation plans, risk management plans, and monitoring plans.

Ensure compliance with VERRA, Regen Registry, and Gold Standard methodology rules, leading the end-to-end process with VVBs.

Liaise with NGOs, reforestation companies, indigenous groups, and other stakeholders to develop carbon emissions reduction projects.

Provide briefs to improve the MRV App for data collection and monitoring.

Conduct pre-feasibility carbon analysis to project tree growth and its carbon potential.

Use spatial (GIS), database, spreadsheet, programming, and other tools for ecosystem restoration and carbon data analysis.

Design and evaluate carbon data inventories and sampling protocols.

Stay updated on methodologies under third-party certification standards, tools, and remote-sensing technologies.

Develop an understanding of regulatory policies and trends in voluntary and compliance carbon markets.

Requirements:

Bachelor's, Applied Diploma, or Master's degree in a relevant field.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in carbon markets (VERRA & Gold Standard Methodologies).

VVB Auditor ISO certification.

Excellent understanding of Afforestation, Reforestation, and Agroforestry projects.

Experience working with NGOs, government, and landowners.

Strong project and time management skills.

Familiarity with project management software tools (e.g., MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, Trello).

Ability to write comprehensive reports and plans independently.

Result-oriented with a can-do spirit.

Ability to onboard and engage with Earthtree Workplace, JIRA, Confluence, and Earthbanc MRV App.

Desirable:

Experience with Indigenous stakeholders, landowners, and NGOs.

Willingness to travel to project sites and spend time in the field.

Strong quantitative skills and entrepreneurial mindset.

Ability to communicate strategies, plans, and metrics clearly.

Knowledge of GIS and mapping, and legal aspects of land tenure and carbon rights.

Language skills in Swahili are a plus.
