POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the company's financial processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance in all financial reporting, and providing key insights to support strategic decision-making. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles in the retail and manufacturing industry.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:

o Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

o Ensure compliance with Financial and other relevant regulations.

o Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.

Cash Management:

o Oversee daily cash operations, including cash positioning, forecasting, and reporting.

o Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure liquidity and operational efficiency.

o Develop and implement cash management strategies to optimize the company’s working capital.

o Coordinate with banks and financial institutions to manage bank accounts, credit facilities, and treasury services.

General Ledger Management:

o Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.

o Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes.

o Perform month-end and year-end closing activities.

Audit and Compliance:

o Coordinate and assist with internal and external audits.

o Ensure compliance with tax regulations and filing requirements.

o Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.

Analysis and Support:

o Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

o Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.

o Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and analysis

Budgeting and Forecasting:

o Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and forecasts.

o Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted/forecasted figures.

o Provide recommendations for cost control and efficiency improvements.

Process Improvement:

o Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

o Develop and update accounting policies and procedures.

o Train and mentor junior accounting staff.

o Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.

Retail Specific Functions:

o Manage accounting for inventory, cost of goods sold, and sales revenue.

o Oversee retail-specific financial operations such as point-of-sale systems and sales tax compliance.

o Collaborate with retail partners to ensure accurate financial reporting and support business operations.

Perform any other role as and when assigned by the supervisor


QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

o Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

o CPA-K

Experience:

o Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior accounting role.

o Experience in the retail and manufacturing industry is highly desirable.

Skills:

o Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards.

o Proficiency in accounting software (e.g Sage, Odoo etc) and Microsoft Excel.

o Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

o Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
