About the role

The Employee shall perform critical responsibilities including but not limited to the following;


Daily responsibilities:

▪ Responsible for transactions to the general ledger including invoice bookings, coding of invoices for the respective cost centre and balance sheet items especially for accounts payables and prepaid purchase orders, proforma invoices for month-end closing

Perform monthly bank statement reconciliation to ensure accurate bookkeeping.

▪ Prepare and administer monthly salary payments & payroll and other expenses.

Develop accounting policies to ensure the financial records are accurate.

▪ Maintain Fixed asset register, and usage rate of fixed assets .

▪ Preparing payment files for bank payments approval

▪ Training colleagues on company’s policies, procedures for financial related transactions ( example reimbursement process, stock take, receipt of assets, tracking of assets etc)

▪Filing all finance-related documents to Kenya’s authorities and other parties including corporate tax, PAYE, VAT, NHIF, NSSF, Housing Levy, Gratuity etc

▪ Transiting employees from manual payments etc to digital payments with good internal control process

▪ Develop financial processes with different business units and ensure internal controls are in place that meet parent company audit requirements.

▪Maintaining our accounting software Quickbooks for financial records including using the right set of accounting descriptions for the nature of the costs

▪ Support the implementation of new software tools ( example HR)

▪ Supporting colleagues with Purchasing process including setting procedures for receipt of goods, stocktake, purchase requisition.


Monthly or Yearly responsibilities:

● Analyse and evaluate critical time-bound dependencies in project development and management,

● Leading yearly financial planning and budgeting process

● Assisting senior executives in planning, budgeting and results analysis for operations

● Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for project costing.

● Ensure a smooth audit process and manage the relationship with external auditors.

● Tax filing for annual corporate tax


Requirements:

To excel in this role, you'll need:

● Hands -on knowledge in executing financial related transactions

● Deep hands-on experience in maintaining the General Ledger and balance sheet especially by costs centre and fixed assets

● More than 3 years of Hands-on use of Quickbooks accounting software

● Experience from Agriculture, manufacturing background and being in a scale up company experience

● Experience with calculating costing manually with google doc/Microsoft excel and able to digitalise the process as you progress.

● Strong analytical, curious, and structured mindset with a drive for simplification.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Fluency in English, both orally and in writing.

● Knowledge of visualization tools like Power BI, advantageous.

● A growth mindset with a focus on solutions and a willingness to work in a dynamic international environment.

● More than 12 years in similar role

● Certified Public Accountant
