Job Description/Requirements

Position Overview:

As the Sales Manager, you will be responsible for leading our sales team in promoting and selling our macadamia nut products, which include bulk kernels in 11.34 Kg vacuum-sealed bags, roasted and salted macadamia nuts in retail shelf-ready pouches, macadamia butter, oil, cakes, and scones, and seedlings for planting.

Your primary goal will be to establish a professional sales culture, build an effective team, and drive revenue growth to achieve break-even within six months.


Reporting Structure:

You will report directly to the CEO and will be expected to provide regular updates on your progress and the performance of the sales team.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, and sales-related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in marketing preferably within the food processing industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms, activations, and analytical tools.
  • Understand the LREB region and market.
  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage a team of staff and meet deadlines in fast paced environment.
  • Proficiency in marketing tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics, and CRM systems.


Key Responsibilities.


1. Sales Strategy and Planning:

- Develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies to drive revenue growth.

- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and customer needs.

- Set clear sales targets and KPIs for the team and monitor progress regularly.

- Develop pricing strategies for different product lines to maximize profitability.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

- Recruit, train, and mentor a professional sales team.

- Establish a sales culture focused on performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.

- Conduct regular team meetings to review performance, provide feedback, and set goals.

- Foster a collaborative and motivated team environment.

3. Customer Relationship Management:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.

- Implement a CRM system to track customer interactions and sales activities.

- Ensure exceptional customer service and satisfaction.

4. Sales Operations and Reporting:

- Develop and implement efficient sales processes and workflows.

- Prepare regular sales reports and presentations for senior management and the board.

- Analyze sales data to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

- Manage the sales budget and allocate resources effectively.

5. Product Promotion and Marketing:

- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns.

- Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events to showcase our products.

- Leverage digital marketing tools to enhance sales efforts and reach a wider audience.

- Research retail market potential for symbiotic products such as peanuts, cashew nuts, and others and present business justification for inclusion in the product portfolio at the right time.

6. Business Development:

- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in Western Kenya, the Lake Victoria region, and the western escarpment of the Rift Valley.

- Develop partnerships and alliances with relevant industry stakeholders.

7. Financial Management:

- Monitor and manage sales expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.

- Achieve revenue targets to ensure the company reaches its break-even point within six months.
