Responsibilities
• Perform financial analysis and reporting to management as needed.
• Responsible for accurate and timely book-keeping of the Company and sister companies
• Perform month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entries
• Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to financial management, budget, accounting, and/or payroll.
• Coordinate with finance team to complete assigned accounting tasks within deadlines.
• Generate financial reports and statements to management for review.
• Respond to accounting inquiries from management in a timely manner.
• Provide guidance to other Accountants when needed.
• Assist in auditing activities by providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations.
• Ensure tax returns are filed on a timely basis
• Partner with wider teams to ensure proper understanding of financial requirements
• Preparation of regulatory returns for the Company and sister companies.
Minimum required qualifications and experience
• Minimum 8 years of experience with at least 3 years in a reputable audit or accountancy firm. Industry experience particulary the financial services sector is an advantage
• Extensive accounting and/or tax experience (particularly Kenyan VAT) for more than 5 years
• Preferably an undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Maths, Statistics, Business or Economics.
• Accountancy qualifications, i.e.CPA, ACCA - qualified or nearing completion
• Well-conversant with IFRS financial statements
• Knowledge of taxation of various African countries will be an advantage
• Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases
• Expertise working with XERO
