Refrigeration and Electrical Engineer

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Reports To: General Manager

Job Summary:

QMP Ltd. is seeking a skilled Refrigeration and Electrical Engineer to oversee the maintenance, servicing, installation, and repair of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preventive, scheduled, and predictive maintenance while ensuring all equipment functions optimally. This role requires strong expertise in fault diagnosis, electrical troubleshooting, and system installation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintenance & Servicing:

• Conduct preventive, planned, scheduled, and predictive maintenance of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and Electricals.
• Perform routine servicing and repairs on refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance.

• Maintain air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, ensuring efficiency and longevity.

2. Electrical & Troubleshooting:

• Diagnose, localize, analyze, and correct electrical faults in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Perform function check-outs to verify system performance after repairs or maintenance.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all service and repair activities.

3. Installation & Commissioning:

• Install and set up various air conditioning systems, including split, window, packaged, VRV, chillers, and auto air conditioners.
• Install refrigeration systems such as cold rooms, chillers, ice plants, and auto refrigeration containers.
• Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards during installation and maintenance work.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Diploma/Degree in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in servicing, maintenance, and installation of refrigeration and air conditioning and Electrical systems.
• Strong knowledge of electrical fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repairs.
• Experience in industrial refrigeration systems (cold rooms, ice plants, chillers) is an added advantage.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.

• Technical expertise in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in refrigeration and HVAC systems.

Working Conditions:

• The role involves fieldwork, including troubleshooting, repairs, and installations at various company sites.
• May require working on emergency repairs outside regular working hours.
