Job Overview:
The Quality Control (QC) Officer will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality for products at every stage of the paint manufacturing process. This includes overseeing raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to confirm they meet specified standards and guidelines. The QC Officer will play a critical role in maintaining the factory's reputation for producing safe, high-quality paints while ensuring adherence to internal and external quality standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Quality Testing & Inspection
- Conduct quality tests on raw materials, in-process batches, and finished products to ensure they meet quality specifications.
- Regularly test paint samples for consistency, viscosity, colour accuracy, gloss, drying time, and other key quality parameters.
- Document and analyse test results, identifying any deviations from standards and implementing corrective measures.
2. Process Control & Monitoring
- Monitor each stage of the manufacturing process to ensure adherence to quality procedures and protocols.
- Identify and address quality control issues early to prevent defects and rework.
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot quality issues in real-time and implement process improvements.
3. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and audits.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly quality control reports for management review.
- Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to quality control as per ISO 9001:2015
4. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure products comply with regulatory standards and safety guidelines, including environmental standards.
- Assist in audits and certifications by providing required documentation and participating in audit activities.
- Promote a culture of quality and safety within the facility, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
Other Duties Include:
- Redundant stock usage monitoring & control
- Retained sample upkeep and register maintenance
- Small Order production in the laboratory
- Assisting sales department in customer/painters training & seminars
- Provide technical support as needed to sales and operations & attending to customer complaints
- Maintain the laboratory in a tidy and well-organised manner
- To assist as appropriate with the maintenance and calibration of equipment resources in the laboratory, as laid down in the planned schedule
- Any other duties the management may assign
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
- 3-5 years of experience in paint manufacturing or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of paint formulation, production process, and application techniques.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and analytical instruments like viscometers, SG cups, PH Meters etc.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in project management and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
Work Environment:
The Quality Control Officer will work primarily in a laboratory and office environment, with occasional visits to the production floor. The Quality Control Officer must adhere to all safety rules and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment when necessary.
