Position Description

Project Manager – Military Training Summary/Definition:

The Project Manager oversees and manages projects, and is responsible for planning, monitoring projects. The PM is responsible for co-ordination and completion of the projects and will perform a variety of tasks including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities, monitoring, and summarizing progress of the projects, setting, and following budgets, making HR decisions, and other project management-related tasks. The PM will be based in West Africa with travel to various remote training sites throughout the region. 

Location: Benin, West Africa

Position Requirements

5+ years of experience managing military training programs (NCO and/or officer training) in geographically diverse post conflict locations. Programs should exceed $5 million or more per project. Managing projects” shall be defined as the candidate serving as the senior-most in-country management official at the project level. The PM shall also demonstrate at least 1+ years direct experience conducting work professionally in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as highlight experiences operating in areas with limited life cycle support and under hardship conditions. Candidate should have curriculum development experience. Must have the ability to analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information. Must have excellent supervisory, organizational, and training skills, skill in project development and execution, skill in coordinating activities, evaluating data, and establishing priorities. Excellent communication in both written and verbal English is necessary, and must be proficient in Word, MS Office suite of programs. Must be able to analyze problems and make well-reasoned, sound decisions. Must be highly capable of interacting confidently with senior management and customers. Candidate should have management experience with and a demonstrated history of managing direct reports within a large organization. Other Post-conflict countries include Afghanistan, Bosnia, Colombia, Egypt, Haiti, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mexico, Pakistan, Philippines, Yemen.
