About Fluna

Our client, Fluna is a pan-African trade marketplace for African businesses to access credit and global buyers from the US, Europe and Asia. We have onboarded 300+ exporters and deployed $20m+ in trade finance over the last 24 months. We identify strategic local exporters looking to scale their business by matching them with buyers and deploying structured financing to solve their working capital needs. Our mission is to expand cross-border trade between Africa and global markets across agricultural products including coffee, soybeans, raw cashew nuts, avocados, mangoes and coconuts.

Role

We are looking for an experienced Operations Lead to join our team to be responsible for the success of our coffee trade activities in Uganda. The Operations Lead will be overseeing the delivery of quality coffee to buyers by our strategic local exporters and maintaining good relationships with all stakeholders in the coffee supply chain. Later there will be opportunity to expand product coverage to include other agricultural products.

Responsibilities

● Supervise and manage export operations, sourcing, warehousing and grading of green coffee beans by strategic local exporters.

● Coordinate with operational teams, partners and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth operations from sourcing to delivery.

● Validate quantity and quality of coffee across the different steps of the value chain: purchasing, grading, storing and shipping,

● Build and maintain strong relationships with local suppliers of coffee and ensure suppliers are well aware of guidelines and rules to respect.

● Monitor and track the progress of declarations and documentation ensuring that all necessary documents are in order and submitted promptly.

● Establishing and managing relationships with freight carriers and other service providers to ensure smooth operations

● Conduct site visits and due diligence on new suppliers.

● Generate reports and insights to measure export performance, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

● Minimum of 4 years relevant experience as a coffee exporter, operations manager, coffee warehouse manager and/or collateral manager

● Background and experience in logistics, warehousing and coffee supply chain management

● Good knowledge of all local rules and regulations regarding the export of coffee

● Positive, enthusiastic, and a self-starter who embraces responsibility and can manage their own time.

● Must be based in Kampala but able to travel to other regions in Uganda if needed.

● Target driven to ensure customers receive fast resolution while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

● Creative and innovative problem solver

● Experience in a start-up environment is preferred.
