Who and what are we looking for?
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager of Training & Assessment to join our team based in Kenya (Eldoret), in support of our existing tree planting project. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of all training and assessment programs within the organisation. This role works closely with functional leaders to understand training needs, then creates and implements engaging and effective learning solutions to build the skills and capabilities of employees. The Manager of Training & Assessment ensures all programs meet quality standards and compliance requirements, and are appropriate for delivery to both office and field personnel.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
● Conduct training needs assessments to identify skills gaps and development opportunities across the organisation
● Design and develop training curricula, engaging & effective course materials, and assessment tools to address identified needs, and tailor content and delivery to various recipient groups both in the field and office
● Manage and conduct the delivery of training programs through a variety of diverse training
methods and materials to accommodate various learning styles and audiences both in the
field and office
● Oversee the measurement and evaluation of training effectiveness and make data-driven improvements
● Lead relevant training specialists and ensure all personnel receive high-quality, consistent yet tailored learning experiences
● Collaborate with internal teams and liaise with experts on content development, ensuring
training initiatives are aligned with business goals and strategic priorities
● Ensure all training activities comply with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures
● Evaluate training effectiveness and gather feedback for improvement
● Develop and maintain an accurate database of training activities and participant information
● Stay up-to-date on trends and best practices in training and assessment, and implement innovative approaches
Requirements:
● Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Human Resources, or a related field; or equivalent relevant work experience
● 5+ years of experience managing training and development programs, specifically both in the field and office environments
● Expertise in learning theories, instructional design methodologies, and assessment techniques
● Strong project management and program delivery/time management skills
● Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities
● Proficient with learning management systems, authoring tools, and other training technologies
● Experience leading and developing a team of training professionals
● Business acumen and strategic thinking skills to align training with organisational objectives
● Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently, with colleagues based in different locations and time zones around the globe
● Result-oriented work approach with the ability to work quickly from concept creation to the implementation of successful campaigns
