About Fluna
Our client, Fluna is a pan-African trade marketplace for African businesses to access credit and global buyers from the US, Europe and Asia. We have onboarded 300+ exporters and deployed $20m+ in trade finance over the last 24 months. We identify strategic local exporters looking to scale their business by matching them with buyers and deploying structured financing to solve their working capital needs. Our mission is to expand cross-border trade between Africa and global markets across agricultural products including coffee, soybeans, raw cashew nuts, avocados, mangoes and coconuts.
Role
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Logistics Lead to oversee the end-to-end shipment process of agricultural commodities from Africa for Fluna. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in managing international logistics, a keen understanding of the agricultural export sector, and a strong commitment to ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Responsibilities
● Shipment Coordination:
○ Plan, organize, and oversee the entire export process, including sourcing, packing, customs clearance, and shipment of agricultural commodities.
○ Manage all documentation related to exports, including invoices, bills of lading, phytosanitary certificates and certificates of origin.
○ Track shipments and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
○ Address and resolve any issues or delays in the shipment process.
● Vendor Management:
○ Build and maintain relationships with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transport providers to ensure timely and cost-effective shipments.
○ Negotiate contracts and rates with logistics service providers.
● Regulatory Compliance:
o Ensure compliance with all international trade regulations, local export laws, and standards for agricultural commodities.
○ Liaise with relevant authorities to secure permits and certifications as required.
● Performance Monitoring:
○ Develop KPIs to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations.
○ Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize the export process.
○ Work closely with the procurement, quality assurance, and sales teams to align logistics with business objectives.
Requirements
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in international logistics, preferably in agricultural commodities.
● Proven experience with coffee and/or soyabeans is a plus
● Familiarity with Uganda’s export processes and logistics infrastructure is highly desirable.
● Excellent knowledge of customs regulations, Incoterms, and international shipping documentation.
● Proven relationships with the major global shipping lines with contacts at origin and destination
● Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
● Entrepreneurial mindset, with a willingness to work hands-on in ambiguous and dynamic environments.
● First degree in business, commerce or any related field
● Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
● Experience in a start-up environment is preferred
