The Loan Manager will oversee the loan department, ensuring efficient loan processing, management, and recovery. The Loan Manager will provide leadership to loan representatives, maintain compliance with lending policies, and drive the growth and success of the micro-lending company.

Job Description/Requirements
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Manage a team of loan representatives, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they meet performance targets and adhere to company policies.
- Loan Processing Oversight: Ensure all loan applications are processed efficiently and in accordance with company guidelines, reviewing loan applications for completeness and accuracy.
- Risk Management: Monitor loan disbursements and repayments to minimize defaults. Implement effective risk management practices to ensure that the company’s loan portfolio remains healthy.
- Collections Management: Oversee the collections process, ensuring timely and efficient collection of overdue loans. Work with loan representatives to manage delinquent accounts and implement recovery strategies.
- Client Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with clients, especially key accounts, and address any high-level customer concerns or disputes.
- Policy & Compliance Management: Ensure all lending activities comply with local regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies. Regularly review and update lending policies to reflect changes in the market and legal environment.
- Reporting & Documentation: Prepare regular reports on loan performance, including disbursements, collections, defaults, and any potential risks. Present findings to the management team.
- Loan Product Development: Work with senior management to design, modify, or improve loan products to meet the needs of customers and align with market trends.
- Budget & Forecasting: Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and plans for the loan portfolio, ensuring profitability and growth.
- Customer Support: Handle complex customer issues escalated by loan representatives, ensuring that customers receive prompt resolutions to their concerns.
- Staff Training & Development: Identify training needs for the loan team and coordinate training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- At least 5 or more years of experience in microfinance, microlending or financial services, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
- Strong knowledge of loan products, financial analysis, risk management, and collections procedures.
- Proven track record in managing loan portfolios and meeting organizational targets.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing micro-lending in Kenya.
- Proficient in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
