Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer with expertise in preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and handling tender document preparation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate estimation and cost management of civil engineering projects, from inception to completion. This role requires prior experience in preparing BoQs, managing tender documentation, and working closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

Job Description/Requirements

● Prepare and review detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQ) for civil engineering projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness of cost estimates.

● Develop, manage, and review tender documentation, including specifications, conditions of contract, and other related documents.

● Liaise with project managers, architects, contractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for tender submissions.

● Conduct site visits to assess project scope and gather data to assist in cost estimation and tender document preparation.

● Evaluate and analyze tender submissions, ensuring compliance with the project requirements and budget constraints.

● Monitor project costs and adjust BoQs and tender documents as needed to reflect changes in design, scope, or market conditions.

● Provide technical advice and support during the procurement process, including pre-tender meetings, bid evaluations, and post-contract award discussions.

● Ensure compliance with local and international standards, regulations, and best practices related to tendering and construction cost management.

● Maintain up-to-date records of BoQs, tender documents, and project costs for future reference and reporting.

● For EPC projects, track project changes and produce updated site-based schedules in collaboration with engineering and project management teams.


Qualifications and Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.

● Minimum of 3 years of experience in preparing Bills of Quantities and managing tender documentation for civil engineering projects.

● Proficiency in using relevant software tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and specialized estimating and quantity surveying software.

● Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials, and methods.

● Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with project stakeholders.

● Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

● Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:

● Membership with a professional engineering or quantity surveying body

● Experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.

● Familiarity with local tendering processes and regulations.
