A qualified IT Assistant who is able to install and maintain computer systems and networks aiming for the highest functionality. He must have a thorough knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail. The goal is to build and maintain updated efficient computer systems and networks to optimize the role of technology on business sustainability.

Job Title IT Assistant
Reports To Group IT Supervisor
Area: Kenya
Location: Roto Moulders Limited
Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities
- Set up workstations with computers and necessary peripheral devices (routers, printers etc.)
- Check computer hardware (CPU, HDD/SSD, mouse, keyboards, Printers and scanners etc.) to ensure efficiency and optimal functionality
- Attend to support tickets/ raised issues within the shortest time possible
- Install and configure appropriate software and functions according to specifications (ERP, Financial Systems, Microsoft Office, HR/Attendance system etc.)
- Maintenance of existing local and WAN networks in ways that optimize performance and ensure resources uptime
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
- Liaise with third party providers to ensure SLAs are met as per expectations e.g. ISPs, Printer/ Computer repairs, Software venders etc.
- Provide orientation, training and guidance to users on how to operate new software and computer equipment
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their work
- Perform troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve problems (repairs or replace parts, software debugging etc.)
- Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
- Keep an updated IT asset register
- Identify computer or network equipment/ consumables shortages and place orders
- CCTV management and maintenance
- Website management and frequent updating
Person Specification/Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Higher diploma in Computer Science, engineering or relevant field
- Proven experience in IT or relevant position
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication ability
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
- In depth understanding of diverse computer systems and networks
- Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
- IT Certifications will be an advantage (e.g. CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional)
