Internship Opportunity – Farm Agronomist (2 Positions)

Location: Uriri Constituency – Migori County

Project: Neptune Bulb Onions – Climate Resilient Crop Production

Duration: July to September 2024 (3 Months) renewable

About Us:

We are at the forefront of Smart Agriculture, focusing on climate Change Resilient Crop Production. We are currently running an onion Project on an acre of land, aiming for high-value yields using advanced techniques like drip irrigation.

Internship Role:

We are seeking motivated young professional with diverse background to join our internship program.

As an Intern, you will;

° Manage the Neptune Bulb onions from transplanting to harvesting

° Provide technical support and physically contribute to the project’s implementation

° Work with the Drip irrigation System, crucial to our project’s success

° Assist in various stages of onion production and marketing

Key Responsibilities:

° Transplanting: Prepare seedlings and ensure successful transplantation

° Irrigation Management: Monitor and manage the drip irrigation system to optimize water usage and ensure crop health

° Crop Maintenance: Conduct regular checks for pests and diseases, applying necessary treatments

° Harvesting: Plan and execute the harvesting process to ensure maximum yield

° Marketing Support: Help in developing strategies for marketing the harvested onions

Qualifications:

° Background in Agriculture, horticulture, or related fields

° Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Smart Agriculture and Climate Resilient practices

° Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

° Physical fitness for fieldwork

° Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
