Job Summary

The Cook will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of dishes in accordance with hotel standards and guest expectations. They will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure efficient operations and maintain a high level of food quality.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation:
    • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including chopping, slicing, and measuring.
    • Ensure that all food items are stored and handled according to food safety regulations.
    • Assist with inventory control and food ordering.
  • Cooking:
    • Cook a variety of dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts, according to hotel recipes and standards.
    • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is cooked to perfection.
    • Present dishes in an attractive and appetizing manner.
  • Kitchen Maintenance:
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
    • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment and utensils.
    • Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Teamwork:
    • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient operations.
    • Follow the instructions of the Chef de Cuisine or Sous Chef.
    • Assist with training and mentoring new kitchen staff.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring that food orders are prepared accurately and promptly.
    • Handle customer requests and complaints in a professional and courteous manner.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:
    • High school qualification
    • Certificate Course in Food Production or equivalent.
    • Culinary training or experience preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a professional kitchen.
    • Experience working in a medium-sized hotel or restaurant preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong cooking and food preparation skills.
    • Knowledge of food safety regulations and procedures.
    • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Working Conditions

  • Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • May work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Exposed to high temperatures, hot equipment, and sharp objects.
