Job summary
The Head of SME Business will be responsible for driving growth in the SME segment through strategic client acquisition, expansion of the lending portfolio, deposit mobilization, and effective team leadership. The role focuses on delivering sustainable profitability while maintaining high portfolio quality and risk management standards

- Develop and execute the SME business strategy aligned with the organization’s overall goals.
- Drive growth through acquisition of new SME clients and expansion of existing relationships.
- Identify new market opportunities, products, and partnerships to enhance SME penetration.
- Oversee SME lending operations, ensuring growth in the loan book while maintaining asset quality.
- Establish and enforce credit policies, procedures, and risk management frameworks.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including PAR, NPLs, and provisioning levels.
- Lead initiatives to grow SME deposits and diversify funding sources.
- Design and implement innovative deposit products tailored to SME clients.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing SME sales and relationship management team.
- Set performance targets, KPIs, and monitor team productivity.
- Foster a strong sales culture focused on results, accountability, and customer satisfaction.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key SME clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure excellent customer experience and high retention rates.
- Handle escalations and provide solutions to complex client needs.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and audit standards.
- Work closely with risk and compliance teams to mitigate operational and credit risks.
- Drive revenue growth and profitability of the SME segment.
- Monitor budgets, cost efficiency, and overall financial performance.
- Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 7–10 years’ experience in SME banking, microfinance, or business development.
- Proven experience in managing and leading sales or relationship management teams.
- Strong understanding of SME lending, credit analysis, and risk management.
- Strong leadership and people management skills
