About the Company: We are an integrated media company with various platforms, including its flagship brand, the 37-year-old Parents print magazine, Parents E-magazine, ParentsAfrica Website, Podcast, YouTube Channel, Social Media Platforms, Events, and the VibeYetu Youth Initiative.

Job Description: The Head of Business Development will be responsible for executing the company’s five-year business strategy to grow revenue. This role involves leveraging content to increase audience engagement across all platforms and translating these metrics into revenue from advertisers, magazine circulation, e-paper subscriptions, curated event hosting, and other partnerships.


Duties and Responsibilities:

- Day-to-day supervision of the marketing, advertising, and content creation teams.

- Monitoring business growth as forecasted in the five-year strategy (July 2024 - July 2029).

- Ensuring the revenue strategy for all platforms, as outlined in the five-year strategy, is fully implemented and the quality of content is maintained

- Setting goals, plans, and targets for revenue growth across all platforms and ensuring their achievement.

- Researching, planning, and implementing target market initiatives for content and business growth.

- Preparing winning proposals for prospective clients.

- Pursuing leads and moving through the sales cycle on all platforms.

- Acquiring new clients and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients.

- Developing mutually beneficial partnerships with advertisers and other partners.

- Meeting quarterly, monthly, and annual sales targets.

- Compiling and analyzing data to identify media trends.

- Positioning ParentsAfrica as a credible platform that delivers on its promises.


Required Skills:

- Deep knowledge of the print and digital media landscape in Kenya.

- Experience working in a media house or advertising agency in sales and marketing.

- Experience in selling advertising across different media platforms, including print and digital.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Understanding content that appeals to advertisers.

- Proficiency in proposal writing.

- Ability to create long-term partnerships.

- Experience in managing teams and individuals with strong interpersonal skills.

- Excellent negotiation skills and client interaction experience.

- A team player with a willingness to learn.

- Proven track record with excellent multi-tasking skills.

- Experience with relevant software/tools.

- Flexibility, organizational, and time management skills with attention to detail.

- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

- Ability to present ideas to a variety of audiences.

- Ability to work under high pressure.

- Strong customer service skills.

- Creativity and the ability to generate innovative ideas.

- Detailed knowledge of current online tools and marketing trends, including SEO.

- Experience in print and digital publishing and generating traffic and leads to new business.


Education:

- A degree or diploma in marketing, business development and management related fields.

- 3+ years of experience in print and digital sales and advertising or business development in the media.


Pay and Benefits: Negotiable and dependent on experience and skills.
