About us

Nutrition International is a global nutrition organization headquartered in Canada with a $700M Investment Case that funds programming in over 60 countries, primarily in Asia and Africa. Nutrition International (NI) is looking for a Global Portfolio Manager (GPM) to support the growing portfolio of Adolescent and Women’s Nutrition (AWHN). The GPM is a crucial position within the Program Operations Unit responsible for supporting Global Portfolio Director (GPD) in the grant management of designated projects within the Adolescent and Women’s Health and Nutrition (AWHN) portfolio.

Know our team

The GPM will work with a global cross-functional team of internal resources in HQ, Africa and Asia, gathering and leveraging Nutrition International’s existing knowledge and expertise from various units to ensure projects are delivered on time, on scope and on budget. The GPM will ensure all projects under their designation are managed effectively and delivered according to their contractual obligations.

 

About you

You will come with a minimum of 7 years’ experience managing large, complex, development programs in an international NGO/UN agency (or similar) that spans multiple geographies in Asia and/or Africa and from multiple and diverse donors. You will have a Master’s degree in public health /nutrition/ international development with experience working in the public health/nutrition sector in Asia and Africa; understanding of health systems. Demonstrated skills and experience in proposal writing, external representation and effective donor stewardship would be a great advantage.

You should have good spoken & written English; Fluency in French, Hindi, Bangla, Bahasa Indonesia, Swahili, will be an advantage.

 

About the role

The GPM will support the portfolio where there are opportunities to grow and expand funding in the AWHN programmatic areas.  You will participate in strategic planning exercises as necessary, in coordination with GPDs and under the technical guidance of the appropriate Technical Directors and/or Advisors. In this role you will:

  • Participate in the development of AWHN strategy area that builds on NI’s extensive experience and learning and reflects opportunities in the current funding landscape.
  • Put in place effective project management mechanisms to ensure quality implementation and implementation of a set of projects within a portfolio, in collaboration with colleagues in HQ, the regional offices in New Delhi and Nairobi, and in countries of operation and according to NI policies and ways of working.
  • Working with regional and country colleagues, ensure grants under their management have clear annual plans, activity plans and budgets and are implemented on time and to a high quality.
  • Support and provide capacity building to project teams when and where required on project cycle management processes and tools.
  • As needed and in coordination with technical team, represent NI’s interests in regional or global coordination mechanisms/fora.
