Job Description/Requirements
The successful candidate will need to interact and effectively collaborate with the senior leadership team, particularly H.O.D.s, as well as any external audit or independent consultants engaged by the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Be a critical team lead to support the implementation of the company’s 4C (Conservation, Community, Culture and Commerce) GER strategy
- Ensure our ESG components align with industry best practice
- Assist the interim environmental consultant in the initial transition, adoption, and implementation of the Weeva monitoring platform across our group of companies and in line with our strategy
- Assist in developing and implementing environmental monitoring protocols and cycles for Smart Monitoring and Smart Technology
- Prepare and distribute relevant analysis, with trend reporting on agreed reporting cycles (e.g., weekly, monthly, quarterly, seasonal, and annual).
- Maintain 4C strategy reporting: Assist the team. In ensuring that recording outcomes on objectives and goals, and work with the team to ensure that their KPI’s and work is aligned to the strategy and where not aligned, develop with the H.O.D.s, and Managers in framing corrective actions and adjustments as required on an agreed cycle
- Develop and publish key environmental footprint journey metrics such as carbon, in-setting and off-setting, restoration, water usage, and recycling
- In conjunction with CWCT manager, develop, coordinate and monitor social impact initiatives for the benefit of the community and linked to conservation efforts.
- In conjunction with the Conservancy Manager, analyse and report on key conservation and social impact metrics.
- Recommending necessary operational management structures are in place in relation to achieving the environmental and social goals of the company
- Oversee communication of the 4C Strategy to internal and external parties
- Coordinating the environment and social initiatives and the compliance to law and regulatory requirements
- Support the Management in driving the education, communication, training, and implementation of the ES across the company in all operational areas, including its associated business activities, sub-contractors and supply chains, where relevant
- Stay updated on ESG trends, frameworks, and regulations, providing strategic guidance to enhance the company’s ESG performance and disclosures
Key Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Auditing, Management or related field. Additional qualifications in sustainability, ESG, or corporate responsibility are a plus
- Proven experience in ESG management, sustainability reporting, or corporate responsibility, preferably within a corporate setting
- In-depth knowledge of ESG reporting standards and frameworks, and industry best practices
- Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to drive and implement ESG strategies successfully
- Experience in relevant ESG fields
- Highly Numerate: Extensive experience in worksheet data processing using programs such as Excel, with the ability to construct formulas to interrogate data and visually report the same
- Strong Analytical Skills: The capacity to interrogate data, identify, correct or adjust for anomalies, extrapolate and make clear and accurate observations and recommendations, and assist cohort in identifying densities and opportunities for change.
- Strong Data Administration Skills: The ability to record and maintain data sets and libraries over time, with necessary version recording to enable retrospective audit if required
- Good Communicator: The ability to distil complex data sets into well-communicated and actionable reporting.
- Adaptability: Due to the remote location, data will be collected across a broad spectrum, ranging from smart technologies to verbal reporting from semi-literate persons. The candidate needs to be able to assimilate and collate inputs across a wide spectrum.
- Accuracy: The position requires that the person in the role capture some of the data. Accurate capture and the ability to validate data inputs from other parties are critical.
- Presentation and Communication: The role requires the use of visual tools such as PowerPoint or similar with robust skills in presenting complex data and trends in a visual or graphic format. Data dashboards for the executive are a good example.
- Team Player: In order to ensure accurate and timely reporting, and to assist in the adoption of environmental goals across the organisation, the successful candidate will need to build good relationships with both senior staff and various levels of operators.
