Job Summary:
The EHS Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring environmental, health, and safety programs at regional level to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote a safe working environment .
The role involves conducting risk assessments, training employees, site inspections and audits, and driving EHS performance to support organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Develop and implement safety protocols to mitigate workplace risks, especially for field teams working on high-altitude towers, confined spaces, and with electrical equipment.
- Investigate and report incidents, near misses, and accidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective measures.
- Coordinate emergency response plans, including evacuation drills and crisis management protocols.
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations related to waste management & energy consumption
- Oversee hazardous material handling and disposal in accordance with environmental laws.
- Develop programs to minimize the environmental impact of operations, such as energy efficiency initiatives or sustainable waste practices.
- Promote health and wellness programs for employees, including ergonomic assessments and mental health awareness initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health regulations
- Provide first aid support and manage workplace injuries effectively.
- Conduct EHS training sessions for employees & Subcontractors covering topics such as personal protective equipment (PPE), working at heights, and electrical safety & hazards.
- Create awareness campaigns to instill a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across the organization.
- Ensure high level of compliance by teams to UZIMA online App.
- Liaise with department manager and ensure timely submission of compliance reports.
- Ensure proper documentation of all EHS procedures, inspections, and audits.
- Conduct regular audits to measure the effectiveness of EHS programs and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure EHS integration in telecommunication infrastructure projects.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: NEBOSH or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of experience in EHS roles, preferably in the telecommunication sector.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of risks associated with telecommunication operations, such as RF radiation, high-altitude work, and electrical hazards.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
- Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office and EHS management softwareUZIMA

- Reduction in workplace incidents and accidents.
- Compliance rate with EHS audits and inspections.
- Number of employees trained in EHS protocols.
