Job Summary
The Dean of Academics will direct the curriculum design, articulation and evolution of the school’s academic programs and curricular vision. Additionally, he/she will be responsible for the coordination of annual academic programs, preparation of the comprehensive class schedules, and student assessments.
The Main Purposes of this role are to;
· Direct the design, review, evaluation and development of academic programs
· Direct strategic changes and advancements of the academic program in alignment with the Ministry of Education directive and the mission and vision of the school.
· Ensure the Quality, Consistency and Continuity of academic programs of the school.
· Maintain and enhance the Excellent Academic Achievements of JGA
· Ensure High Standard of Academic Teaching
Key Managerial Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Academic Scheduling for all the students at JGA
- Creation of Academic Periodical Schedules and overseeing of new student’s class selection and placement
- Work with Head of Departments in scheduling of academic programs
- Supervision of tests and examinations
- Preparation of Calendars and allocation of teachers to classes
- Monitor syllabus coverage, lesson attendance, and pupil progress reports
- Ensure that up-to-date curriculum is taught
- Procure and manage the materials, supplies and facilities required for learning
- Be the school liaison in matters pertaining to CBC
· Ensuring overall quality is maintained as per TSC Standards
- Appraise the Head of Department and other teachers
- Any other duty assigned by the Head Teacher
Social Liaison
· Liaison between the School and TSC, Community, Local Education Institutions and other Stakeholders
· Represents the School in various meetings, workshops, conferences, forums, professional associations, leadership training among others
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be a Bachelor’s Degree in Education holder or equivalent from a university recognized by the government of Kenya
- Meets the Chapter Six(6) requirements of the Constitution
- Demonstrate ability to supervise, mentor and provide professional support to the rest of the teachers.
- A Masters Degree in Education will be an added advantage
- Should be an excellent teacher with at least 2 years of proven experience in a similar role
- English Language Teaching is a mandatory requirement
- Must be registered by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC)
- Proven track record in teaching as a Dean of Academics
- Strong leadership and demonstrated skills in management with ability to build strong and highly motivated team.
- Excellent Computer Skills, Information Systems, MS Office and Databases
