Key Responsibilities:

Data Migration Planning and Preparation:

Develop comprehensive data migration strategies and plans tailored to specific project needs. Assess existing data structures, formats, and quality to identify potential challenges and opportunities. Design, develop, implement, and maintain data mapping, transformation, and validation rules to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of migrated data. Utilize industry-leading data migration tools and technologies, such as IBM DataStage, to streamline migration processes and enhance efficiency.

Data Migration Execution and Documentations:

Manage and execute data migration tasks according to project timelines and milestones. Transition into new data environment, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance to validate the success of data migration activities. Provide technical guidance and support to project teams and stakeholders throughout the data migration lifecycle. Document migration processes, methodologies, and outcomes for future reference and knowledge sharing. Optimize ETL workflows and performance to minimize downtime, maximize throughput, and meet project deadlines. Implement best practices for data cleansing, deduplication, and enrichment to enhance data quality and usability. Proactively identify and address issues, risks, and dependencies that may impact data migration initiatives.

Data Migration Leadership and Collaboration:

Manage the day-to-day data migration activities and resources and organise the data migration management team meetings. Provide status reporting on the migration plan, dependencies, risks, and issues to the stakeholders. Provide on-site/ remote leadership for migration activities across Local Business Units (LBUs) by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones. Collaborate with data architects, developers, and analysts to resolve data integration issues, troubleshoot errors, and optimize data processing pipelines. Collaborate and manage vendor engagements to ensure vendor delivery against assigned migration activities. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data migration requirements and objectives. Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation, and excellence. Provide technical expertise and guidance to project teams and stakeholders on data migration strategies, tools, and best practices.

​​​​​​​ Requirements

Qualification:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience. Experience working within large complex technology transformation programmes. 5+ years of data migration experience, including tracking and planning migration projects. Experience leading medium/large teams in data migration activities. Thorough understanding of data migration techniques and methods including extraction, cleaning, transformation, and loading. Experience in transitioning data from numerous data sources to a single cloud solution. Experience gained in the Insurance industry is an added advantage. 5+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment. Ability to work independently, with strong analytical and implementation skills. Strong negotiation, inter-personal and influencing skills and excellent communication skills. Proficiency in data migration tools and platforms, with specific expertise in IBM DataStage or similar ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools. Strong understanding of data migration methodologies, techniques, and best practices. Solid grasp of database concepts, SQL, and data modelling principles. Ability to work with diverse personalities, cultures, and business practices inherent to an international organisation. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment. Relevant certifications in data management, ETL tools, or related areas (e.g., IBM Certified Data Engineer) are a plus.
