Job Summary

We seek a Fruit Quality Controller ensures that all fruits meet the company's quality standards before they reach customers. This role involves examining, inspecting and testing the quality of fruits for freshness, ripeness, and any signs of damage or contamination at various stages of the supply chain. This role involves working closely with suppliers, warehouse staff, and quality control teams to ensure the company's high- quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role is based in Tilisi, along Limuru Road, Kiambu county.

Job Description/Requirements

  •  Inspection and Quality Inspection: Conduct thorough visual and physical inspections of fruits upon arrival and before dispatch to ensure they meet the required standards to assess color, texture, overall appearance, quality, size, ripeness, and any signs of defects or diseases.
  •  Sampling and Testing: Perform sampling and testing to assess factors such as sugar content, acidity levels, and moisture to ensure optimal fruit quality.
  •  Compliance Monitoring: Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and company standards, including hygiene and handling practices.
  •  Ensure that all products meet company and regulatory quality standards.
  •  Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and quality regulations.
  •  Follow all company health and safety procedures.
  •  Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, including findings, detailed reports on quality issues and actions taken, test results, and any corrective actions taken.
  •  Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels to prevent overripe or spoiled fruits from being shipped.
  •  Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, production, and logistics teams to address quality issues and implement improvements. Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure training and guidance on the proper handling and storage of fruit.
  •  Assist in the office as and when required.


Experience

MINIMUM ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

2+ Experience in packhouse quality control or a related field, preferably in the food or agricultural industry.


Qualifications

  •  Matric
  •  Diploma in Agriculture, or equivalent.


Skills

  •  Knowledge of fruit varieties, quality standards, and food safety regulations.
  •  Excellent observational skills and strong attention to detail.


Operations & Working Conditions

  •  Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including cold storage areas. This role may involve standing for long periods and working in varying temperature conditions.
  •  Flexibility to work shifts, determined by operational needs. shift work includes weekends and holidays, as required.
  •  The company vehicle will be used for inspections only. You are responsible for getting to work and home using your transport.
