Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
1. Perform authorized dental procedures including cleaning teeth, removing plaques, replacing missing teeth, filling cavities, rebuilding of broken teeth and removing severely damaged teeth in a safe and sterile environment while providing a quality dental experience during the procedure.
2. Prepare treatment rooms, instruments and tray setups for dental procedures.
3. Conduct dental health education to patients.
4. Offer counsel to patients who require reassurance.
5. Implement and adhere to infection prevention protocols including autoclaving instruments after use, cleaning the dental procedure’s space and storage of the clean instruments.
6. Analyze dental x-rays and evaluate dental needs as necessary including medical history review and dental charting.
7. Treat and follow up with patients to prevent the worsening of dental diseases.
8. Provide instruction on dental care and write prescriptions for patients.
9. Assist the Dental surgeon in procedures and conduct procedures under supervision by the surgeon.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
1. Diploma in Community Health
2. Valid Dental Practicing License
3. Registered by the Oral Health Association of Kenya
4. Minimum of 2 years of working experience as a COHO
