Our hotel boasts a highly-rated restaurant, serving many different international cuisines, and African meals ,which plays a vital role in our guest experience.

About the Role

We are seeking a talented and passionate Chief Chef to lead our culinary team and elevate our restaurant's reputation to new heights. As Chief Chef, you will be responsible for all aspects of our culinary operations, from menu creation and recipe development to staff training and ensuring the highest standards of quality and consistency.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement innovative and seasonal menus that reflect the freshest local ingredients and showcase Kenyan cuisine with a modern twist.
  • Oversee all aspects of the kitchen, including food preparation, plating, presentation, and ensuring exceptional quality control.
  • Manage kitchen staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and hygienic work environment adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory control, ensuring proper food cost management and minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to develop and implement food and beverage promotions.
  • Stay informed about current culinary trends and techniques, and implement them in the restaurant.
  • Ensure excellent guest satisfaction through exceptional food quality and presentation.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Chef de Cuisine or similar role in a reputable restaurant, preferably within a boutique hotel setting.
  • Strong understanding of International and African cuisine with a passion for incorporating fresh, local ingredients.
  • In-depth knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation methods, and international cuisines.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and train a team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with restaurant staff and other departments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and control costs effectively.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in kitchen management software and adherence to HACCP regulations is a plus.
