Job Overview
A career as the Chief Accountant at Offshore Global Logistics offers an exciting opportunity to oversee accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic financial management, while also managing the team and providing financial insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervises the accounting team to execute the financial management, including cash management, invoicing, receivables, payables, accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
• Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial statement preparation, reconciliation, and analysis.
• Review and approve journal entries, adjustments, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses to support decision-making and strategic planning.
• Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial performance metrics to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to senior management to support business decisions and initiatives.
• Stay updated on accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in financial management processes.
• Listen to colleagues’ ideas, recognize and motivate them when they fulfil their work.
• Provide feedback on staff performance and give support when required by the team
• Participate actively in the induction process to ensure new employees feel welcome and valued, setting the foundation for them to become productive and positive assets to the company.
• Advise on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take.
• Engage actively in sustainability programs while leading the Finance department in achieving the company’s Environmental, social and governance goals.
• Develop innovative ideas to enhance the company's image and improve the overall working environment
• To accurately file, update, and maintain all company records and documents
• To perform other duties as required or directed.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting
• At least 1 year experience in a supervisory position
• 3 years’ relevant experience
• CPA-K certification
• Excellent financial management & reporting skills
• Minimum B plain at KCSE
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Integrity and professionalism in handling confidential financial information.
