RESPONSIBILITIES
Roles & ResponsibilitiesDesigning &purification processes such as filtration, sedimentation, coagulation, and disinfection. They optimize these processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness in removing contaminants.Develop and implement chemical treatment methods, such as the use of coagulants and disinfectants (e.g., chlorine, ozone, UV light) to eliminate pathogens and harmful substances from water.Conduct tests and analyses to monitor water quality and ensure that treated water meets health and safety standards. This involves understanding the chemical properties of different contaminants.Chemical engineers work on developing sustainable water purification methods that minimize waste and energy consumption. They also assess the environmental impact of water treatment processes.Engage in research to develop new materials and technologies for water purification, such as advanced membranes for reverse osmosis or innovative filtration materials.Ensure that water purification processes comply with local, national, and international regulations is a critical responsibility. Chemical engineers help navigate these regulations to maintain public health standards.Overseeing projects related to the construction or upgrading of water treatment facilities, coordinating between various stakeholders, including government agencies and construction teams.
