Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Business Manager to oversee and enhance the day-to-day operations of our delivery, storage, and errand services. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving growth, streamlining processes, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This position requires strong leadership skills, an understanding of logistics and business management, and the ability to identify new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operations Management:
- Oversee and streamline all daily operations, including storage, delivery, and errand services.
- Ensure timely, efficient, and safe delivery of goods, with a focus on optimizing delivery routes and timelines.
- Monitor and improve operational processes to reduce costs, improve service levels, and enhance overall efficiency.
- Implement and enforce operational procedures to ensure compliance with company standards and local regulations.
2. Team Leadership:
- Manage, mentor, and motivate a diverse team, including errand personnel, bike riders, and administrative staff.
- Lead the hiring process for new team members, ensuring that the right talent is recruited to meet business needs.
- Develop and implement training programs to improve skills and ensure the team’s effectiveness.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and address any performance or personnel issues.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, and personal growth.
3. Business Development:
- Lead the efforts to establish and maintain strategic partnerships, such as with DHL or other delivery service providers.
- Identify and explore growth opportunities, particularly in Nairobi and potential regional markets.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform strategic business decisions and expansion plans.
- Engage with potential clients and stakeholders to grow the business and enhance its reputation.
4. Financial Oversight:
- Work closely with the finance team to manage the company’s budget, track expenses, and ensure profitability.
- Review financial performance regularly, identifying areas to improve cost efficiency and financial sustainability.
- Oversee the management of revenue streams, cost control, and financial forecasting to meet targets.
- Ensure that appropriate systems and processes are in place for accurate financial reporting and analysis.
5. Customer Service:
- Champion exceptional customer service across all departments and services, ensuring clients receive high-quality and timely support.
- Address customer complaints, issues, or inquiries promptly and professionally, resolving them in a manner that preserves client satisfaction.
- Develop customer service policies and procedures to ensure consistency in service delivery.
- Analyze customer feedback to improve service delivery and operational processes.
6. Marketing & Brand Management:
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement marketing strategies that enhance the brand and increase customer engagement.
- Identify opportunities for branding, advertising, and promotions to expand market reach and drive customer acquisition.
- Manage social media presence and create content that promotes services to a wider audience.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to adapt marketing strategies and improve the company’s competitive position.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in business management.
- Experience in managing cross-functional teams and leading diverse staff.
- Strong business acumen with experience in budgeting, financial oversight, and business development.
