JOB SUMMARY
Our client is a venture capital firm with $300m of assets under management, providing capital and business building support to African entrepreneurs who leverage technology to solve large African challenges by redesigning the many fragmented and inefficient industry verticals on the continent. Through its TIDE Africa Funds, they invest in companies in Africa and actively supports the emerging ecosystem through several well received initiatives. Their portfolio includes Andela, Pula and uLesson, among others. The TIDE Africa Funds deliver capital as part of a larger strategic, operational and financial support to entrepreneurs. With an on-the-ground presence in Kenya and Nigeria as well as offices in the UK, the firm invests across all stages of the venture capital cycle and a wide range of industries including agriculture, education, financial services and logistics. The Accounting Manager provides accounting, and operational support to the Company and its Executives. Position to be based in Nairobi, Kenya.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary tasks:1. Investor-Related Tasks: Support Managing Partner and Finance Director for investor capital calls and drawdown notices from investors;Support Finance Director and Partners with investor reporting for the Mauritian Funds, quarterly and ad-hoc;Managing the database of legal documentation, board materials and financial information of all portfolio companies, and the interaction with portfolio contacts for timely updateSupport Finance Director and Partners with Know Your Client (KYC) process for investments and investors; 2. Support the audit process of the Mauritian and local entitiesWork closely with Finance Director and Operations Manager to prepare and reconcile the company's accounts with local offices; Oversee the accounts, regulatory annual filings and audit of the Kenya local office;Support Finance Director with Audit process for the Mauritian entities, including but not limited to collating data from investee companies for investment confirmations and answering audit queriesRequirementsAt least a first degree in Accounting or a Business relevant field At least three years of experience in an accounting and/or audit role Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively Have proven strong written and verbal communication skills, fluent in EnglishKnowledge of appropriate computer software including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe AcrobatAbility to exercise sound judgment, dependable and conscientious, with an innate appreciation for structure, accuracy, precision and timelinessHigh level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
