Job Description/Requirements
Position: Accountant
Reporting To: Director
MAIN DUTIES:
• Taking charge of the end-to-end bookkeeping cycle ensuring accuracy and completeness of transactions posted in the system, in line with local fiscal rules and Company procedures.
• Supporting internal and external audit processes to ensure timely and quality delivery of audit deliverables.
• Reviewing General Ledger and Trial balance on a regular basis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Follows up on all accounting booking issues (assigned internally or coming from external input) until they are solved to the end.
• Preparing staff payroll and processing payment of monthly payroll deductions including PAYE, NSSF, Housing Levy and NHIF ensuring compliance before the set deadlines.
• Preparing and submitting the monthly and annual payroll statutory returns.
• Providing the Directors with reports and analysis on costs and financial statements in accordance with internal procedures and/ or departmental needs.
• Ensuring financial balance sheets and bank reconciliations are accurate.
• Ensuring the efficient and smooth handling of petty cash floats and presenting reports for the floats.
• Processing both manual and electronic payments for creditors.
• Ensuring expenses are analyzed and allocated on a monthly basis in the accounting system.
• Processing payment to suppliers and reconciling supplier statement with the Ledger accounts.
• Maintain accurate creditor records.
• Preparing and maintaining an asset registry for the company.
• Performing other reasonable and related duties as assigned from time to time to meet the changing business needs.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
• A degree or diploma in a business related field.
• CPA (K)
• 5 years’ experience in an Accounting role in the fuel industry.
COMPETENCIES:
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to make decisions independently and provide reasons.
• High integrity and diligence.
• Ability to diagnose problems and apply mitigation measures in good time
• Conversant with the regulatory requirements.
