Accountant (Retail & Distribution) - Malindi

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly competent and detail-oriented Accountant to join our team in a fast-paced retail and distribution environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with Kenyan tax regulations, and supporting overall financial operations.

This role requires a tech-savvy and adaptable professional who is comfortable working with ERP systems and automation tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation of all transactions
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
• Manage accounts payable and receivable processes
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan tax laws, including VAT, PAYE, and statutory filings
• Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
• Utilize ERP systems (e.g., Odoo) to manage accounting functions efficiently
• Identify opportunities to improve financial processes through automation and system optimization
• Liaise with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies when required

Qualifications & Experience

• CPA (K) – Fully qualified or at least CPA Part III
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant work experience
• Experience in retail, distribution, or a similar fast-paced environment is an added advantage
• Proven experience using Odoo ERP or similar accounting systems
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
