Accountant

Working in a creative and fast-paced environment, the Accountant will report to the Managing Director. You will support the accounting and financial needs for Agba and affiliated organizations which will include chargebacks and coordination between these organizations. Among others, your responsibilities will include the following:

• Manage and oversee all accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with financial policies, regulations, and legal requirements.

• Prepare and publish financial statements on a timely basis, including monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, while handling specific tax-related duties (e.g., PAYE, VAT, NSSF, NHIF).

• Maintain accurate records through account reconciliation (accounts payable and receivable) and substantiation of financial transactions by auditing documents.

• Develop and recommend financial policies and procedures to enhance accounting controls and support management in financial decision-making.

• Supervise and guide junior accounting staff, maintaining team efficiency and addressing accounting queries.

• Ensure the security and confidentiality of financial data and maintain up-to-date professional knowledge through continuous learning and networking.

• Perform additional duties such as preparing special financial reports, managing storage and auctionrelated financial tasks, and other assigned responsibilities.

• Professional Expertise: Possess a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business, with at least 5 years of accounting experience and a CPA or related certification. Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is crucial.

• Experience Requirements: At least 5 to 7 years of relevant experience, including managing accounting tasks and supervisory responsibilities over clerical staff.

• Technical Skills: Excellent in corporate finance, reporting, time management, data entry, and possesses strong mathematical abilities.

• Communication and Leadership Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to present information clearly in both informal and formal settings.

• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with excellent facilitation, critical thinking, and analytical skills.

• Operational Competence: Outstanding organizational skills, with an ability to manage processes, controls, and to coordinate work among teams effectively.

• Interpersonal Abilities: Strong interpersonal skills to maintain positive customer relations and work effectively under pressure in a diverse environment. Comfortable with high-pressure situations and meeting tight deadlines.

• Additional Desired Skills: Superior experience with QuickBooks and a track record of effectively handling high-pressure situations and complex problem-solving.
